How Doctors are Selected

Top doctors are carefully chosen on a national and regional level through a meticulous screening process conducted by Castle Connolly's physician-led group of researchers. Physicians and the medical leadership of top hospitals are asked to identify doctors whom they recognize as highly skilled and exceptional. This is achieved through mail and telephone surveys and electronic ballots. The doctors identified as exceptional are then carefully screened to determine their educational and professional experience prior to making a final selection.

This process allows Castle Connolly to identify the physicians in America who are most highly regarded among their peers and then pass this information along to consumers in its paperback guides, online directories, and "Top Doctors" features in national and regional magazines. Castle Connolly also provides detailed information about each doctor's training and education and special expertise. This is not a recognition that doctors can buy; doctors cannot pay to be featured as one of Castle Connolly's Top Doctors
