Photofacial can improve sun- and age-damaged skin, irregular skin texture, redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, brown spots, age spots, sun-induced freckles, mild acne scars, large pores, and dark circles around the eyes. It may also help to improve some fine lines, especially those located around the mouth and eyes. This gentle, pulsed-light treatment may be used on the face as well as the neck, chest and hands. Dr. Andrew Kleinman is a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in photofacial treatment. He will work closely with you to develop an individualized treatment plan to help you best achieve your desired look. Most patients require a series of three to five treatments performed at intervals of approximately three to four weeks. Your photofacial treatment will take an average of thirty minutes to complete. Anesthesia is not needed, though a topical cream can be applied for your comfort. During treatment, light energy is delivered to the skin through a series of gentle pulses. This energy penetrates the deep layers of the skin, targeting pigment and vascular imperfections. There is little to no downtime after photofacial treatment. Any side effects are usually mild and resolve quickly. Redness may occur after treatment but typically fades within several hours. Rarely, swelling may occur for up to three to five days, though this is more common in severely sun-damaged skin. Most photofacial patients are back to work and their usual routine immediately after treatment or the day after |
